2nd T20: Skipper's knock from either side but England win to level series

It was a captain's knock from either side with Eoin Morgan coming out trumps against Mahendra Singh Dhoni as England beat India by 6 wickets off the last ball of the match and in turn level the 2-match T20 series.

  • It did not start off too well for the home side with Ajinkya Rahane dismissed early on by Jade Dernbach. Gautam Gambhir too never looked comfortable on the crease and was more of a liability than an asset in the shortest format. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Virat Kohli joined Gambhir after Rahane's dismissal and looked in prime form right from the beginning. His 38 from 20 balls gave the Men in Blue the right momentum after the initial jolt. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • From being 1-64, India went on to 5-108 as England bowlers hit the right areas after a disappointing performance in Pune. Tim Bresnan and James Tredwell were impressive in particular. Even Stuart Meaker was troubling the batsmen before Raina and Dhoni stepped in. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Luke Wright got the rid of Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh in quick succession to give India the blues. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Skipper MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina then held fort and took Indian innings forward. England looked to have gotten the edge at one point but MSD and Raina were in no mood to give in the towel. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Dhoni hit 3 boundaries and 2 sixes en route 38 off 18 balls before his dismissal stalled India's innings again. After his departure, India hit just 9 off 8 deliveries. Raina finished with 35* off 24 balls. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • It all started brightly for the three lions with a 80-run opening partnership between Michael Lumb and first match hero Alex Hales. Lumb completed his first fifty in international T20 while Hales got a solid 42 before Yuvraj Singh bowled India into the match yet again. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Yuvi first got rid of Lumb who was looking to take the game away from India then and there. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Yuvraj followed it up with Luke Wright's dismissal and then rounded up his fantastic series getting Alex Hales in his last over. He ended with figures of 3/17 and got India back into the game when it seemed destined to go the visitors' way. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • At that point on 3-123, England would not have harboured much chances. Samit Patel, who was surprisingly sent ahead of Jos Buttler then went caught by Gambhir off Dinda. England needed 29 off 13 then as Eoin Morgan and Buttler joined hands. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Both then hit sixes and fours at opportune moments to eat away at India's total. Morgan with 49 off 26 and Buttler with an equally important 15 off 7 hit normal cricketing shots and never slogged. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Ashok Dinda was hit off a last ball six by Eoin Morgan and unsurprisingly he looked massively disappointed. England required 9 off the last over and Dinda had bowled well until then. (Photo credit: BCCI)
