Jaipur:
Violence broke out between members of two communities in Sanganer town in Jaipur with mobs going on a rampage torching a religious school, vandalising properties and attacking policemen prompting authorities to clamp curfew in the area on Friday.
The trouble started over a trivial issue of parking of a motorbike on Thursday evening, officials said, adding 20 policemen were injured in the violence.
As tension gripped the area, some miscreants set afire a school on Shikarpur road on Friday. However no one was injured as the fire was doused soon, officials said.
The town saw clashes on Thursday after a man parked his bike outside a house despite objections from some people from a community.
Members from both the communities pelted stones and threw empty liquor bottles stored in a factory. The mob also vandalised some houses.
When the police reached the spot, the mob attacked them in which 20 policemen including the officiating Police Commissioner Biju George and ACP Rajesh Meel were injured.
The agitating mob also torched a cardboard factory and a bike besides damaging several other vehicles on Thursday evening.
Ten people were arrested on Thursday night in connection with the violence and additional forces have been deployed in the area, additional police commissioner Girrja Meena said.
As tension gripped the area, a curfew has been ordered, police control room said.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday held a meeting to review the situation and directed officials to take effective steps to maintain law and order, according to a government spokesperson.
Chief secretary C K Mathew, Add Chief Secretary (Home) Ashok Sampatram, DGP Harish Meena and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
