Man burns to death as car goes up in flames
New Delhi: A 30-year-old man was burnt to death after his car caught fire due to a short circuit. The incident was reported from Adarsh Nagar area of north Delhi.

Fire tenders were sent to the spot but before they could launch the rescue operation, the man was charred to death. A fire brigade official said the incident took place at around 11.40am, when the Alto car suddenly burst in to flames and its owner, Pradeep Arora, failed to escape.

The body has been sent to Babu Jagjeevan Ram Memorial Hospital for post-mortem.

A senior police official said the deceased was a resident of Adarsh Nagar and worked with a private firm. "He was on his way to meet a friend. Suddenly, a thick cloud of smoke started coming out of the bonnet of the car and before he could get out, fire had engulfed the whole vehicle. Passersby rushed to his rescue but their efforts went in vain," he said.

According to the police, most likely, the fire was caused by a short circuit, though it is yet to be ascertained.
