Gang of robbers create havoc; loot two persons in Mumbai

Mumbai: Two persons were robbed of cash and valuables within a span of one-and-half hours on gun point at Thane-Belapur Road. The gang of four robbers, moving in a car, stole cash and valuables collectively worth Rs 70,600, offering lift to unsuspecting people.

According to police, the robbers relieved a man of cash and valuables to the tune of Rs 32,000 at a gun point in Nerul. The victim Pranesh Muddapur (46), a resident of Ghatkopar travels to Pune every day for work with his friend. As it is their daily practice, the friend who stays at Thane, drops Muddapur at CBD from where he takes another vehicle to go to Ghatkopar.

Muddapur was dropped at CBD as usual at around 8.45 pm on November 29. When he saw a car approaching, Muddapur requested to get lift. "Four unidentified youths were travelling by the car. They offered him lift and took the car to Nerul. When they reached near Radhagil Cooperative Housing Society, one of the youths took out a gun and threatened Muddapur to kill. While he was held at gun point, other youths snatched cash, laptop, mobile phone, gold ring and chain collectively worth Rs 32,000 from him," a senior police official. The culprits later asked Muddapur to get out of the vehicle in Nerul and fled. Nerul police have registered a case in this regard under sections 392 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

In another incident, four unidentified persons robbed a Dombivali resident of cash and valuables collectively worth Rs 38,600. The incident took place at around 10.15 pm near Mahape police chowki. According to police, four unidentified persons offered lift to Arun Unnumonikam (29), a resident of Lodha Heaven, Dombivali near Mahape police chowki. After driving for some distance, one of the culprits took out a knife and snatched cash, gold chain and ring and mobile phone from Unnumonikam collectively worth Rs 38,600. Turbhe police have registered an offence against unidentified robbers under sections 394 and 34 of the IPC.
