Delhi: Flight operations normal at Indira Gandhi International Airport
New Delhi: After being badly disrupted for two days due to dense fog, flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) were largely unaffected today though the airport witnessed shallow fog.

There was fog at the airport and visibility dropped to around 500 metres at one of the runways but flight operations were unaffected as the visibility at the main runway was normal, airport officials said.

Though there were some delays in flights, it was due to operational reasons and not due to fog or poor visibility.

The visibility on the main runway was above 1,000 metres while on the third runway it was around 500 metres, they said.

The airport had witnessed the second longest duration of dense fog conditions in the last eight years on Sunday and Monday, which led to suspension of flight operations for about three hours on Sunday night and affected the schedule of over 600 flights.

A total of 463 flights were delayed, 52 diverted and 140 cancelled due to poor visibility due to dense fog.
