Twins go missing after father kills himself

Cerignola, Italy: An extensive search involving Italian, French and Swiss police is currently underway in southern Italy for 6-year-old twins who have been missing for days under bizarre circumstances.

Rescue workers are using dogs and helicopters to locate them.

According to news reports, the girls were picked up by their Canadian-born father Matthias Schepp from their mother's home in Switzerland more than a week ago.

He traveled to France and Italy with the girls, where he reportedly killed himself by jumping under a train in southern Italy late last week.

Both girls are blonde and about 3 feet, 9 inches tall, according to Interpol. Authorities have urged anybody with information to come forward. A Facebook page set up to find the girls invites people with information to make contact.
