Washington DC:

Elon Musk has publicly agreed that US President Donald Trump "should be impeached" and Vice President JD Vance should replace him. In a dramatic turn of events, Musk and Trump have turned on each other, in a bitter and ugly public feud.

As the spat between friends-turned-foes spiraled with both billionaires targeting each other openly, Elon Musk decided to drop a bombshell, claiming that US President Donald Trump is in the Epstein files, and it is due to that reason, that details and findings of the investigation have not been made public. The tech billionaire made the stunning claim on his social media platform X.

"Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!" Musk wrote, just over an hour after Trump told the press that he was "disappointed with Elon" for opposing his 'Big Beautiful Bill'.

Musk followed up his Epstein files post by saying, "Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out."

He then went on to agree to a post calling for President Trump to be impeached.

Unlike the last nine months, during which, billionaires Donald Trump and Elon Musk were inseparable and praised each other highly, the last week has been turbulent, and the past 24 hours in particular, explosive. With the passage of the controversial 'One Big Beautiful Bill', which the two former friends have deep disagreements over, the gloves have now come off.

Over the past few hours Trump and Musk have dealt blows to each other. While Trump publicly chided Musk at a White House press briefing, backing a bill that could have a devastating impact on EV makers like Tesla, Musk was quick to remind the "ungrateful" President that the reason he can call the White House his home, was because of Musk's financial and moral support during the election campaign last year, for which he had poured in hundreds of millions of dollars.

"Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will any more," Trump said at a White House press briefing. He also predicted that Elon "hasn't said bad about me personally, but I'm sure that'll be next".

In his swift and lethal response, Musk said, "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate...Such ingratitude."

But as the stock value of Musk's EV firm Tesla plummeted with the passing of the controversial bill, Elon Musk dropped a series of posts, lambasting the US President for what Musk called "The Big Ugly Bill". His latest post however - about Epstein files not being made public because Trump figures in it - is bound to shake up Washington DC.

Observers had long wondered if the friendship between the two brash billionaires known for lobbing insults online would flame out in spectacular fashion. It has, in less than a year.

WHO WAS JEFFERY EPSTEIN?

Jeffrey Epstein, a child sex offender and trafficker, had faced multiple accusations of raping young girls. He was also facing charges of trafficking minors for the sexual gratification of top politicians, businessmen, and celebrities. Not just that, dozens of women alleged that Epstein forced them to provide sexual services to him and his high-profile guests at his private Caribbean island and homes in New York, Florida, and New Mexico.

Born and raised in New York City, Epstein began his professional career as a teacher at the Dalton School. After getting sacked from the school in 1976, he entered the banking and finance sector, where he held multiple posts before venturing into business. Epstein's rise was rapid as he cultivated an elite social circle and procured many young women and children whom he and his associates sexually abused and assaulted.

In 2005, the Florida police began investigating Jeffery Epstein after a parent registered a complaint that Epstein had sexually abused her 14-year-old daughter. The probe revealed that Epstein had sexually abused and assaulted 36 girls, some as young as 14. He pleaded guilty on two counts and was convicted in 2008. However, Epstein served only 13 months in prison, following which he was released reportedly due to a controversial plea bargain since he was charged only for two of the offenses.

Years later, in July 2019, he was arrested again - this time on charges of sex trafficking of minors in New York and Florida. During the trial, the serial sex offender died by suicide in a US prison in August, shortly after his dark secrets were revealed during the investigation. This halted all the legal proceedings against him and those who had ties with him.

THE EPSTEIN FILES

The material found during the investigation of Jeffery Epstein, which includes documents, contact lists, call records and chats, videos, names of his associates and clients, among other investigative data, are known as the Epstein files. The United States government has acknowledged the Epstein investigation and the internal reviews being carried out of Epstein-related materials. However, only select records have been released so far.

In February 2025, a document by the US Department of Justice had revealed that US President Donald Trump, pop icon Michael Jackson, actor Alec Baldwin, and film producer Harvey Weinstein were among the innumerable celebrities who were on Jeffery Epstein's contact list. But what the investigation has revealed about the involvement of these people are still not open to the public.

The Justice Department document contained several other high-profile names such as former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, and musician Courtney Love.

Among others were supermodel Naomi Campbell, Robert F Kennedy Jr's mother Ethel Kennedy, former Secretary of State John Kerry, late Senator Ted Kennedy, lawyer Alan Dershowitz and actors Dustin Hoffman and Ralph Fiennes.

The list also included the names of US President Donald Trump's former wife Ivana Trump and daughter Ivanka Trump.

Epstein's flight logs, as per the latest documents, included the names of Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Kevin Spacey, Naomi Campbell, Prince Andrew, Tommy Quinn, Didier, Mark Middleton, Sharon Reynolds, Andy Stewart, Maria Shriver, Matt Grope, Bob Wendy, Emmy Tayler, Jean Luc Brunel, Larry Summers, Glenn Dubin, Alan Dershowitz, Alan Greenberg, Sophie Biddle, Ira Zuckerman, Ghislaine Maxwell, Eva Andersson, Joan Alessi.

In addition to Epstein's contact list, the US Justice Department had also made public a censored list of the masseuses, whose identities were blacked out because of their victim status. That list contained 254 names.

However, besides a list of contacts, not much else regarding the investigation has been revealed in public. According to Elon Musk, "the real reason" for this is because the incumbent US President's name figures in the findings. Though Musk did not provide any evidence to back his claim, he wrote that eventually "The truth will come out".
