Radio Pakistan to air Muhammed Ali Jinnah's speeches on September 11

Islamabad: Historic speeches of Muhammad Ali Jinnah handed over by India to Radio Pakistan will be aired on September 11, the 65th death anniversary of the country's founding father.

Radio Pakistan intends to air these historical speeches on 11th of September, it said in a report.

The speeches by Jinnah includes the one he delivered at All India Radio in New Delhi on June 3, 1947 giving his reaction on a plan to hold a referendum in the North West Frontier Province about its joining with Pakistan or India.

The second recording is likely to be his August 14 address where he talks about "welfare and well-being of all the communities" in Pakistan.

On March 29, 2012, the then Pakistan Broadcasting Cooperation Director General Murtaza Solangi wrote to AIR Director General Leeladhar Mandloi, requesting him to provide a copy of Jinnah's first presidential address to the constituent assembly in Karachi.

Solangi noted that he was told during his visit to the AIR in November 2011 that the speech was in the archives.

In the speech, Jinnah spoke of his vision of Pakistan as a state with equal citizens, irrespective of community, colour, caste and creed, and said people were free to go to their places of worship.
