Gunmen shoot to death an Indian born in Kansas

Chicago: An Indian born cash clerk was gunned down by unknown assailants in a midwestern Kansas city store even after he had complied with the instructions of the gunmen and handed over the entire day's cash proceeds in a bag.

The Kansas City police have identified the convenience store clerk killed in a robbery on Wednesday as Gurpreet Singh, 35. The deadly holdup was recorded on the surveillance camera of the store, 'Kansas City Star' reported.

The Indian born cash clerk was working his final shift at the store before moving on next week to full time job at a hospital. He leaves behind his wife and two children age 7 and 9.

Ironically, the store called 7-11 had been hit seven times in the past 12 months and local police are baffled why Singh was shot dead even after he had handed over the cash bag.

Police are looking out for two men, both hooded and a girl who kept vigil at the door as the men carried out the robbery.

Singh called the police about 1:10 am to report the shooting. He told police, a man entered the store, walked up to the counter and demanded money. Singh handed the gunman money in a bag and the gunman shot him in the abdomen.

Singh later died in surgery at a hospital.
