Cochabamba, Bolivia's:
A tornado ripped metal sheeting from roofs, demolished buildings and uprooted trees in the city of Cochabamba in central Bolivia on Wednesday.
There were no fatalities reported, although scores of homes and warehouses were damaged.
A local resident in Pucara, one of the affected neighbourhoods, captured video on his mobile phone of local children desperately trying to seek shelter as the tornado hit.
A Bolivian meteorologist told local media the weather phenomenon was extremely unusual for a mountain city like Cochabamba, as tornados usually form in plains.
The tornado lasted for about five minutes and the meteorologist said the presence of the mountain range, which surrounds the city, reduced its impact.
Cochabamba, Bolivia's fourth largest city, has been suffering from extreme weather in the past few months.
Local media has reported droughts, floods and frosts in different regions around the city.
Known for it's spring weather all year long, Bolivian experts have blamed the drastic variations on global warming.
