Why ₹10,000 To Women Before Elections? Deputy CM Hits Back At Critics

At NDTV's Bihar Power Play event, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary defended the state government's ₹10,000 scheme for women, which has drawn allegations from the RJD of being a pre-poll bribe.

Choudhary dismissed the criticism, saying the RJD has always been against women’s empowerment, claiming that it's in their DNA. He highlighted that while Lalu Yadav never gave women reservation, the NDA ensured 50% reservation for women in Bihar.

He said the initiative reflects the NDA’s commitment to women’s welfare - not election timing - and added that Bihar's women are now self-reliant. He asserted that the government's goal is to make one crore women lakhpatis, and 20 lakh have already achieved that milestone.
