When Indians Stepped Up And Saved Lives: From Captain Smit To Neerja Bhanot
Extraordinary acts of bravery that defined two Indian national icons. First, Rehmat Pasha, whose rapid, heroic response during the 2025 Bondi Beach mass shooting saved dozens. Amid active gunfire, pasha personally pulled wounded victims to safety and ferried them straight to emergency medical services. His quick thinking and sheer courage are credited with saving up to 20 lives. And remembered forever in aviation history, Neerja Bhanot: the purser on pan am flight 73 during its tragic 1986 hijack. Bhanot instantly alerted the cockpit crew using the hijack protocol, allowing the pilots to escape through a ceiling hatch and ground the plane.
