A Flydubai captain who survived a brutal cockpit attack and helped prevent an apparent aviation disaster has been honoured by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The captain appeared at the ceremony with visible head injuries and medical dressings, reminders of the horrific September 30 incident aboard Flydubai Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. According to reports, the captain suffered a serious skull fracture and multiple injuries after allegedly being attacked inside the cockpit by the co-pilot. Despite the injuries, the captain managed to open the cockpit door, enabling crew members and passengers to help restrain the attacker as the aircraft descended sharply.
