West Bengal Elections: PM Modi Promises Free Healthcare, Financial Aid for Women
At a rally in Bangaon, North 24 Parganas, Narendra Modi announced a wide-ranging welfare pitch focused on women ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026. He promised free healthcare coverage up to Rs 5 lakh, subsidized treatment at public health centres, and free screening and vaccines for breast and cervical cancer. Financial assistance includes Rs 21,000 during pregnancy and Rs 50,000 for daughters upon graduation. Modi also outlined economic support, including collateral-free loans of up to Rs 20 lakh and initiatives to help 75 lakh women earn over Rs 1 lakh annually through employment and self-employment opportunities.
