Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK chief C. Joseph Vijay is taking a major step towards formalising the coalition that brought his government to power. At a key meeting in Chennai, alliance partners agreed on the name 'Social Justice Secular Victory Alliance', with Vijay set to chair the coalition. Congress, VCK, MDMK and IUML leaders attended, while CPI and CPI(M) stayed away despite supporting the government. The move comes after Vijay's sharp attack on the DMK in the Assembly and amid calls from some quarters for him to take on a larger national role.
