Uttarakhand News | Heavy Rain Cuts Off 90 Families in Pithoragarh As Bilju River Overflows

Relentless monsoon rains have cut off nearly 90 families in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district after the Bilju River swelled, blocking the only road to Milam in the Malla Johar region. With no permanent bridge in place, villagers are risking their lives crossing the raging river to access food, medicines and other essentials. The trolley that once helped residents cross was washed away during last year's monsoon and has never been restored. Forced to rely on a makeshift wooden bridge, locals say every journey has become dangerous. As the administration urges people to avoid crossing flooded rivers, villagers are demanding an immediate permanent bridge and restoration of the damaged route.
