In an interview with NDTV, economist and professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University sharply criticized the recent escalation between Iran and Israel, describing it as an "imperial war" driven by geopolitical dominance rather than security concerns.
Sachs argued that the conflict reflects what he called a broader effort by the United States and Israel to maintain strategic control over the Middle East, particularly its oil resources. Rejecting claims that Iran poses an immediate threat, including assertions previously made by Donald Trump, Sachs characterized the justification for military action as misleading and rooted in hegemonic ambitions.
