Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox News on Sunday that the U.S. is "suffocating" Iran through the blockade in the Strati of Hormuz. Bessent also commented on an upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping that was rescheduled from April to May due to the Iran war. The Treasury Secretary said China has been "financing" Iran through their purchases of oil. "We've been encouraging them not to," Bessent said. Meanwhile, Trump has offered a plan to reopen the strait at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, where about a fifth of the world’s trade in oil and natural gas typically passes, along with fertilizer badly needed by farmers around the world
