An urgent meeting was chaired by Union Home Secretary today amid a possible threat posed by the new Covid variant 'Omicron' in India. The government has decided to review the decision on resuming scheduled commercial international passenger services as well as SOPs on testing and the surveillance of incoming passengers, especially from "at risk" countries; the Opposition raises several issues, including compensation to farmers who died during the farmer's agitation, at the all-party meeting ahead of the winter session of Parliament tomorrow.
