Trinamool MLA Tapas Roy Resigns In Major Setback For Party Ahead Of Polls

In a setback for Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, veteran party leader and three-time MLA Tapas Roy resigned from the party and as MLA today. When asked if he would join the BJP, Mr Roy said, "I am not going to say anything regarding this." Tapas Roy was the party's deputy chief whip in the state assembly. Earlier in the day, he slammed the party's leadership for its handling of the Sandeshkhali incident.
