The International Olympic Committee has introduced a new eligibility policy excluding transgender women from women’s events at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The rule limits participation in female categories to biological females, determined through a one-time SRY gene screening. The IOC said the policy aims to protect fairness, safety and integrity in competition, citing retained physical advantages after male puberty. The move follows similar restrictions by several sports bodies and comes amid wider global debate on inclusion and fairness in elite sport.
