Temple Elephant Lifts, Hurls Mahout Assistant During Ritual in Thrissur
A 26-year-old man, Vivek, was seriously injured after an elephant named Akkikavu Karthikeyan lifted and threw him with its trunk during the Valiyavilakku festival at Annamanada Mahadeva Temple in Thrissur, Kerala. The incident occurred on Thursday morning while preparations were underway for the Sheeveli procession. Vivek was immediately rushed to Apollo Adlux Hospital in Angamaly for treatment. Festival ceremonies were temporarily suspended, and the elephant is currently under expert observation.
