The government announced the Rajiv Gandhi Equity Savings Scheme (RGESS) in the Budget 2012-13 in order to provide tax benefits to first time equity investors, but the initiative, however, has so far seen only a tepid response. Experts, Sanjay Sinha, founder of Citrus Advisors; Jimmy A Patel, CEO of Quantum AMC; Yogin Sabnis, CEO of VSK Financial Consultancy Services, and G Chokkalingam, executive director and CIO of Centrum Wealth Management, discuss all about the RGESS and also whether it is required for the scheme to be tweaked again to make it more investor friendly.
