Nearly 31 years after they were first acquired, the Indian Navy's frontline submarines remain the Soviet designed Kilo class submarines. NDTV was given rare access to the INS Sindhukirti, a submarine commissioned in the Soviet Union in 1990. Despite their age, these boats have been extensively upgraded and remain a formidable threat in the Indian Ocean region.
