In a horrific incident in western Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district, a woman was tied to a tree and beaten unconscious by her husband, allegedly on the orders of a local panchayat. The panchayat had ordered the beating of the woman earlier this month because she was suspected of having an affair. Three people, including the husband, have been arrested by the police after a complaint was registered on Wednesday. What would you have done if you were in that crowd? Are we a nation of bystanders? How is it possible that a woman is so brutally beaten in broad daylight and everyone is just standing by and watching? Why did no one intervene?
