Serbia Protests | Vucic Supporters’ Camp Set Ablaze After Election Defeat

Violence erupted in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, after Aleksandar Vucic conceded defeat in a parliamentary election against the student-led opposition. Protesters tore down barricades and tents used by Vucic’s supporters, with fires breaking out at the abandoned camp. Angry demonstrators also hurled rocks at police convoys as officers withdrew from the area around government institutions. The election marks a major political shift after 14 years of Vucic’s leadership, following two years of student-led protests against his government.
