S Jaishankar Slams Pakistan At UNGA: Arguments By Serial Practitioner Of Terrorism Will Not Stand

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hit back at Pakistan during his address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly, referring to a “serial practitioner of terrorism” who, he said, had misrepresented facts before the Assembly and invoked arguments to normalise terrorism. While Jaishankar did not name Pakistan or Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directly, his remarks came a day after Sharif raised the Kashmir issue in his UNGA address. Jaishankar asserted that India’s right to defend itself against terrorism would be exercised and said that “friendship and goodwill cannot co-exist with terrorism”. He also called for zero tolerance towards terrorism and accountability for those supporting it. During his address, Jaishankar highlighted attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers, called for restraint and de-escalation in the Gulf, and urged an end to ongoing conflicts, including in Ukraine.
