S Jaishankar Pushes For Stronger Global Trade Rules, Highlights India's UNCITRAL Role

Speaking at the 60th anniversary conference of UNCITRAL, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar underscored the need for stronger and more harmonised international trade laws amid growing geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain disruptions and rapid technological change. Highlighting India's active contribution to shaping global trade frameworks, he backed UNCITRAL's consensus-driven approach and stressed the importance of predictable rules and effective dispute resolution mechanisms to boost cross-border commerce. He also reiterated India's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, centred on economic growth, innovation and deeper integration with the global economy.
