Ramayana Movie | Ranbir Kapoor Says Lord Ram Goes Beyond Batman, Spider-Man, Superman

The team behind "Ramayana" brought their ancient Indian epic to Comic-Con in San Diego Saturday, describing it as a story with the same emotional pull as Western superhero franchises, just thousands of years older. Actor Ranbir Kapoor said it isn't a stretch to compare the story of Prince Rama, an avatar of the god Vishnu to characters like Batman and Spider-Man. Stripped of powers like flying or strength, what defines a great hero, he said, "boils down to humanity." Director Nitesh Tiwari stressed that they're taking great care to preserve the "sanctity" of the original text, noting there are more than 300 versions of the Ramayana in India alone. "To date we are consulting some eminent scholars who are guiding us with the do's and don'ts," he said. "Ramayana" also stars Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey and Arun Govil. Oscar winners A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer are collaborating on its score. The story will be told in two-parts. Part 1 is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release with a Part 2 premiere next year
