Celebrations erupted across Belgrade and other Serbian cities after President Aleksandar Vucic conceded defeat in a fiercely contested parliamentary election against a student-led opposition movement. The vote marks a major political shift after 14 years of Vucic’s dominance. His Serbian Progressive Party projected that the opposition Students’ List would win 135–140 seats, compared with around 105 for the SNS. The student movement had led protests against Vucic’s government for two years, accusing it of corruption and authoritarianism.
