The INDIA bloc's confrontation with the Election Commission over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has moved to the Supreme Court. Eleven Opposition MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, have filed a petition seeking a stay on the exercise, an audit of voter deletions and an independent probe led by a former Supreme Court judge. However, the plea will not be heard today after 14 defects were reportedly identified in the petition. The matter is likely to be taken up on Wednesday.
