A political controversy is escalating in Punjab over allegations against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's wife, Dr Gurpreet Kaur. Retired Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Justice Ranjit Singh has alleged that she demanded ₹5 crore to settle a rape case, a claim she has rejected and challenged through a legal notice. Justice Ranjit Singh has now said the allegation was based on observations and claims recorded in a High Court order involving a rape case in Amritsar. The National Human Rights Commission has also sought an Action Taken Report from the Punjab government. With the Congress, BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal calling for further investigation, the controversy has become a major political issue in Punjab. NDTV's Mohammed Ghazali reports from Chandigarh.
