A controversial bill to create Telangana that was passed in the Lok Sabha yesterday while its live telecast was cut off in an unprecedented blackout is likely to be taken up in the Rajya Sabha today. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, who has called the blackout a "tactical glitch", will take up the matter with the Speaker today. In protest against the passing of the bill, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy plans to resign today and float his own party. Anti-Telangana politicians like Jagan Mohan Reddy have called for a shutdown in the state. (Read more)
