Dr Randeep Guleria says that the RT-PCR test can pick up the new variant. He, however, said testing should be done 5-7 days after exposure. He also says that not every Covid-positive patient needs a test. If the fever is coming down and oxygen saturation is normal, then CT scan or chest X-Ray is also not needed, he adds.
