Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his comments on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Delhi. Mr Ghosh questioned how PM Modi can contradict multiple statements on the NRC by his Home Minister Amit Shah. The Trinamool MP said the detention of her colleagues by the Uttar Pradesh government was "deplorable" and "undemocratic". A Trinamool Congress delegation that flew to Lucknow to meet the families of those who died in the violence over the protest against the amended citizenship law was stopped at the airport.
