The government has decided to raise import duty on sugar to 15% from 10 per cent, to discourage cheap imports at a time when local prices are dropping due to ample supplies. Narendra Murkumbi, managing director of Shree Renuka Sugars, speaks to NDTV Profit on the likely impact on local prices due to the higher import duty and depreciating rupee.
