Harsh Roongta On PPF Withdrawal Norm Changes

An investment adviser, Harsh Roongta, says new rules allow public provident fund (PPF) account holders to close their accounts prematurely after the completion of five years to meet higher education and medical treatment needs. A one per cent penalty will be levied on the entire withdrawal, he added.
