The Q2 earnings season has thrown open a question: Are high multiples of certain consumer stocks justified in light of the middling quality of earnings? Gautam Chhaochharia, deputy head of India research, UBS Securities, believes that although earnings growth has slowed relatively, a lot of popular midcap consumer names are still very strong.
