"In 2013, it was widely believed that Dr Manmohan Singh will win his third term. Then, Parkash Singh Badal came forward and suggested Narendra Modi's name as the prime ministerial candidate. He was the first one to do so," said Akali Dal's Naresh Gujral, former MP.
