Nobel Laureate in Economics, Abhijit Banerjee joined the #HungerFreeIndia telethon where he highlighted that the Public Distribution Scheme provides ration to families and not to children. He further said that it is hard to estimate how many children are not attached to families, and are left to beg, do odd jobs and get involved in crimes. He asserted that the 'one nation, one ration card' scheme should have been in place, a very long time ago.
