US News | NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani Calls Netanyahu A ‘War Criminal’ & Urges US to Arrest Him

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani released a video on X on Tuesday in which he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "a war criminal." In the video, he said he agreed with the International Criminal Court that Netanyahu "should be arrested and tried" and that his administration reviewed whether New York City could execute the ICC's arrest warrant if Netanyahu came to the city, but it was clear they do not have the legal authority to enforce the warrant. A day earlier, President Donald Trump said Netanyahu would not be arrested while visiting the U.S. He offered the assurance to Israel's prime minister after Mamdani told the New York Times that Netanyahu “belongs in The Hague” and that he was in “active conversation" with the city's legal department about potentially arresting him if he comes to New York City for the U.N. General Assembly in September.
