Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a vocal critic of U.S. President Donald Trump, was reelected Sunday in a result that provides relief to critics of widening U.S. influence in Latin America. Lula da Silva said in a presser in Sao Paulo, Brazil Monday "I will deliver the best presidential term in this country’s history." Lula also thanked his supporters for the win and said, “It wasn’t me or Alckmin who won this election. It was integrity, nationalism, democracy and the future you want for your children that allowed us to turn things around. They say it was the first time we came from behind to win.” Paulista Avenue was packed with supporters celebrating Lula's win chanting “Lula, Lula.”
