"The UK variant is more infectious and is driving the sudden surge in cases in India,' said Dr Randeep Guleria, chief of All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS), Delhi. Speaking to NDTV, he said there is a need for scientists to start working on sequencing the variants as they emerge and see if they will decrease the efficacy of the vaccine.
