Dr Indira Chakravarty, who was awarded Padma Shri in 2014 for her contributions to public health said that over the last nine years, NDTV - Dettol Banega Swasth India, together with the involvement of Campaign Ambassador, Amitabh Bachchan has brought to fore the importance of hygiene, water sanitation and environment and its impact on health. She went on to say that public health must primarily be the focus of disease prevention, and this campaign has influenced numerous government programmes.
