Nepal Floods | China Sounds Major Alarm Over Fresh Nepal Flood Risk

Nepal faces the risk of another major flood after China’s Ministry of Water Resources warned of a high breach risk from a significant barrier lake formed upstream. According to reports citing Chinese authorities, the lake is holding around 2 million cubic metres of water and is already overflowing, with another 3 million cubic metres potentially entering within three days. The warning comes after devastating flash floods and mudslides hit the Nepal-China border region. Nepal’s disaster management authority has urged residents and agencies downstream to remain highly vigilant. Chinese authorities have also mobilised rescue forces, including PLA troops, emergency responders and engineering teams, amid difficult terrain and continued rainfall.
