Penguin Random House India has clarified that it is not the publisher of Sonia Gandhi’s upcoming memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, in India. The statement comes amid reports that the publisher backed out after disagreements over editorial changes. Penguin Random House India said any suggestion that it decided not to publish the book because Sonia Gandhi declined editorial changes does not accurately reflect the circumstances. The publisher added that it had been keen to publish the memoir and said fact-checking and making recommendations are part of its responsibility.
