Mumbai is witnessing worsening air quality, with thick smog visible across parts of the city despite its coastal location. Construction emissions, sluggish winds and garbage burning are among the factors linked to the pollution. In Bandra, ground visuals highlight the growing concerns over the city’s deteriorating air quality. According to CPCB data cited in the report, Mumbai’s AQI stands at 120, placing it in the moderate category. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued 28 pollution-control guidelines for construction sites and deployed 76 ward-level squads to conduct inspections. The mayor has also ordered the relocation of ready-mix concrete plants to tackle dust pollution, though officials have warned the move could increase housing costs. Questions remain over whether these measures will be enough to improve Mumbai’s air quality.
