Mumbai's most ambitious metro line, which currently runs underground from Aarey JVLR in the suburbs to the business hub of the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), will soon see extended services with trains running upto Acharya Atre Chowk or Worli Naka. This will provide metro connectivity to key areas in central Mumbai like Lower Parel, Worli, Shitaladevi Temple, Siddhivinayak Temple, Dadar and Dharavi. Trains will ply under the Mithi River and travel below some of the most congested and crowded areas of the city. This will provide seamless connectivity to the airport from Worli and ease some of the pressure on crowded local trains as commuters from the western suburbs will be able to travel till Worli by the metro. Apart from the operational11 km route, from Aarey to BKC, another 9.77 km, beyond BKC, connecting Dharavi to Acharya Atre Chowk will soon be available for commuters. Services on the entire line from Aarey to Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai are likely to start by the end of the year.
