Atmospheric scientist and Columbia University Professor Adam H Sobel and writer Amitav Ghosh, who had chronicled and written about a storm in Mumbai in 2016, speak to NDTV after cyclone Nisarga made landfall in Alibaug earlier today. "Our research indicates that a truly major cyclone is possible in Mumbai," Adam Sobel had said in 2016. "I read Adam's book on Hurricane Sandy and started asking myself if this was possible. So I initiated a conversation with Adam," Amitav Ghosh tells NDTV. "Even without climate change Mumbai could have a cyclone and climate change is increasing the risk of cyclone in the Arabian Sea. Mumbai really dodged a bullet with this one," Adam Sobel says.
