Obsessed with the desire to have a son, Om Kali, a seventy year old woman in Meerut risked her life to go in for invitro-fertilisation, a process by which eggs are fertilised by sperms outside the woman's womb. She gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl at a nursing home in Meerut. The twins born barely a week ago, weigh a little over a kilo each. Their father Charan Singh, a retired government employee, is seventy six years old.
